What
high school sport means to prominent Canadians...
"Athletics
is about personal achievement and personal growth. Having played
team sports in high school and university, it is also about teamwork
and strong friendships that have the potential to last a lifetime.
My involvement in athletics continues to hold many fond memories
for me.

Sisler High School, Provincial Basketball Champions
"High school
sports was the key that opened up a new series of doors for me.
It allowed me to start on the journey of how important high school
sports, and physical fitness are to an individual. High school sports
showed me the importance of attitude, motivation, competition, and
teamwork, and allowed me to understand that as years went by, if
you were still thinking about what you did yesterday you probably
haven't done much today."
Chris Walby,
retired Athlete, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, CBC commentator
St. John's High School-Winnipeg, Football
"In today's
business climate, we continually hear about the need to be globally
competitive. The basic skills and concepts I see in my business
career to attain that competitiveness, I learned participating in
high school athletics. Concepts like teamwork, focus on goals, integrity,
and just plain hard work, apply to the boardroom as they do on the
basketball court, hockey rink, or football field, and I am using
them everyday of my life."
Paul Soubry

St. Paul's High School, Varsity Basketball & Handball, City

"School
sports was a huge motivator for me, and the major focus of school
life. The skills I use most in my life today, at home, and work,
were those learned and reinforced through sport. There is no better
classroom for learning teamwork, cooperation, selfmotivation, and
control, discipline, and leadership, than through school sport."
