ASAA Welcomes Deanna Metro To Their Staff

The Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association is very excited to welcome the newest staff member, Deanna Metro, to the team. Deanna will be stepping into the role of Assistant Director, and will be working as the provincial championship host liaison for the sports of Basketball, Football, Track and Field, Cheerleading and Golf. She will also be the lead for the ASAA Impact Leadership Training and the School Coach Education program.

Deanna completed a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta and has a background working in the education system in various roles. She worked for the Alberta Sport Connection (ASAA’s funding body) as a junior sport consultant and a coach education coordinator within sport development. While in university, she worked for two years as a Learning Clicks Ambassador with the Government of Alberta providing motivational presentations to secondary students on the value of education after high school. As a practicum student, she also worked as a School Health Mentor for APPLE Schools.

As part of this transition, Michael Steele is moving into the role of Senior Assistant Director and will be responsible for the sports of Cross Country, Volleyball, Curling, Team Handball, Badminton, Wrestling, and Rugby as well as hosting of meetings and events, ASAA publications, and website/transfers.
