AA Boys

Ranked No. 1 going into the B.C School Sports AA boys volleyball tournament, the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country claimed the silver medal today in Langley.

The George Elliot Coyotes earned a silver medal at the B.C. School Sports AA boys volleyball championship in Langley. The Coyotes, up against the No. 6-ranked Abbotsford Christian Knights in the championship match at the Langley Events Centre, fell 3-1 to the Knights and settled for provincial silver.GESS outlasted the Knights 28-26 in the first set of the final but lost the second 25-23. And although leading the third set 8-2 and 15-12, the Coyotes faltered in the latter stages to fall 25-21.

Abby maintained the momentum and took a 7-0 lead in the final set on the way to a 25-21 championship win.

The Okanagan-champion Coyotes had earned the right to play for the BCSS blue banner by edging No. 2-ranked College Heights Cougars of Prince George 3-2 (25-22, 25-16, 24-26, 23-25, 17-15) in semifinal play on Friday.

Earlier, they downed Richmond Christian 3-0 in quarter-final play and Windemere 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs. In power-pool play, Elliot won two of three matches to finish second in their group.
