The Grade 12 student recently played a key role at the centre position in the Kensington Torchmen winning the annual high school hockey tournament, which was hosted by KISH.
“He was a quiet leader and was only one of three Grade 12s on the hockey team,” said KISH athletic director and hockey coach Brett Corcoran. “He scored big goals every game all week, including scoring in the shootout of the championship game as well.
“His work ethic each shift was noticed by the young team, and was another example of him being a quiet leader.”
Rhys, the 17-year-old son of Wade and Patty Caseley of Margate, also represented KISH in dodgeball this year.
Outside of school, Rhys also was a centre with the Gulf Storm midget AA team.
Following graduation from high school in June, Rhys plans to work next year and is considering taking a business course.
