Congratulations to the 2010 Brian Maxwell Scholarship Recipients

OFSAA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Brian Maxwell Memorial Track Scholarship: Chris Dulhanty from Loyola Catholic SS in Mississauga, and Melissa Jones from Fellowes HS in Pembroke. Both received awards in the amount of $5,000. Recipients of the $1,000 Recognition for Excellence Award include Luca Geiser from John Cabot CSS in Mississauga, Carise Thompson from Highlands SS in Dundas, and Colleen Hennessy from St. Thomas Aquinas CSS in Oakville.

The five recipients of this prestigious scholarship were presented with their awards on Thursday, Aug. 12 at a luncheon which featured family and former teammates of Brian Maxwell, as well as a performance by Dan Hill, singer/songwriter and friend of Brian.

Named after Brian Maxwell, a successful distance runner and founder of Power Bar, the scholarship is awarded each year to two student-athletes who are continuing their post-secondary education at a Canadian college or university.
