TJ Boyko of the Kelvin Clippers Football Team is the Home Run Sports Urban Athlete of the Week.
This 6’1″ defensive back was named the WHSFL Defensive Player of the Week after recording 7 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1 safety in Kelvin’s win over the Dakota Lancers. Coach Jon Romu states, “TJ has a nose for the ball. He is leader that leads by example, and plays the game the way it is supposed to be played. He is a great tackler and sheds blocks well. He is a smart player who is coachable”.
This grade 12 student maintains an 80% average, while also participating in soccer and hockey.
Ronaldo Rodas of the Steinbach Regional Sabres Soccer Team is the
Tri-Star Rural Athlete of the Week.
This 5’6″, grade 10 student and striker lead his team offensively, scoring some key goals in the team’s tournament victories at Minnedosa and Stonewall, before helping the Sabres claim the Zone 13 Championship. Coach Steve Rebizant states, “As a new student to the school, Ronaldo has been a quiet leader on the team and expressed himself through his outstanding technical ability and passion for the game of soccer”.
