MHSAA Subway Coach of the Month – September 2013

Brian Schmeichel – Coach of the Westwood Collegiate Warriors Varsity Volleyball team is the Subway Urban Coach of the month for September.

Brian has been coaching for 15 years at various levels with the last nine years at Westwood Collegiate.  He has also been a regular coach at the Peace Gardens Sports Camps each summer and has run the Warriors Volleyball Club for 7 years.

Brian is an inclusive coach that believes athletes should participate in all high school sports. He invests countless hours of his personal time and coaches with demeanor that creates both confidence and hard work amongst athletes. He is respected by his athletes and peers.

Angie Gudnason – Coach of Glenboro School Panthers Varsity Volleyball has been selected as the Subway Rural Coach of the Month for September.

Angie has been coaching volleyball for 18 years, has made numerous appearances at provincial championships, and has won several provincial championships with her teams as well.   Angie also coaches cross country, and track and field.  Students on Angie’s teams enjoy being part of her programs. Angie makes being a player on her team fun yet hard work.  She is very tactful in her approach but yet firm with her expectations. Glenboro school is very fortunate to have her as a staff member and coach.
