MSHAA Announces McDonald’s Leadership Awards

16 McDonald’s Leadership Awards Presented

The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, with generous support from McDonald’s Manitoba, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 McDonald’s Leadership Awards.
These $1,000 scholarships are awarded to eight graduating female high school student athletes, and eight male high school student athletes who maintained a minimum 75% average and demonstrated exceptional leadership in high school sport, school and community involvement. All recipients were nominated by their schools.
The presentation took place at the Seasons of Tuxedo McDonald’s at the 457 Sterling Lyon Parkway in Winnipeg today.
The sixteen student athletes awarded the 2018 McDonald’s Leadership Awards were:

Male Recipients:

Erik Buchsmann from Morden Collegiate in Morden with an academic average of 98.4%

Greg Campbell Miles from Kisemattawa School in Shamattawa with an academic average of 85.2%

Alex Clemis from Carman Collegiate in Carman with an academic average of 96%

Matthew Hedden from St. Paul’s High School in Winnipeg with an academic average of 91%

Kowan Kukurudz from Ste. Rose School in Ste. Rose du Lac with an academic average of 91%

Lucas Meyer from Vincent Massey Collegiate in Winnipeg with an academic average of 95%

David Muller from Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in Swan River with an academic average of 95%

Lyndon Zimmer from Major Pratt School in Russell with an academic average of 92%

Female Recipients: 

Kristen Brewer from Westpark School in Portage la Prairie with an academic average of 85%

Alina Derksen from Morris School in Morris with an academic average of 94.4%

Jenna Miller from Glenboro School in Glenboro with an academic average of 97%

Brittany Johnson from R.D. Parker Collegiate in Thompson with an academic average of 91%

Annika Loeppky from Lord Selkirk Regional in Selkirk with an academic average of 98%

Tessley Korchinski from Hapnot Collegiate in Flin Flon with an academic average of 90%

Zara Ramlal from Centre scolaire Léo-Rémillard in Winnipeg with an academic average of 87%

Holly Simpson from River East Collegiate in Winnipeg with an academic average of 93.3%

Each of the sixteen winners received a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of McDonald’s Manitoba.
