The CEC Cougars successfully defended their Division 1 provincial crown as they defeated Citadel two games to one in the championship final.

TRURO, N.S. – Spurred on by thunderous fan support, the Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars staged a dramatic comeback Saturday to claim their second straight NSSAF Division 1 Boys Provincial Volleyball Championship.
The Cougars breezed to the boys final, posting three wins in as many pool games before defeating West Kings in a semi final matchup to punch their ticket to the final against Citadel.
The Phoenix were strong contenders and went point for point with CEC, emerging victorious in the first game, 25-22, marking the only game the Cougars lost all tournament.
Bolstered by their emotional second game win and a loud partisan home crowd, the Cougars took control early and never let up taking the third game 15-10 and capturing the championship.
In pool play, CEC posted victories over Horton (25-19, 25-9), Sir John A. Macdonald (25-11, 25-14) and Sackville (25-6, 25-12). From there, they faced West Kings for the right to advance and came out ahead 25-22, 25-10.

Gold Medal – CEC 2 Citadel 1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-10); Bronze Medal – West Kings 2 Sackville 0 (25-20, 25-19)
DIVISION 1 GIRLS
On the Division 1 girls’ side, CEC came up against a tough Citadel squad that made it a three-peat on the weekend, after posting championship wins in 2014 and 2015, as well.
The Cougars trailed throughout much of the first game of the championship, losing 25-10 but came back in the second game, to take it right down to the wire before bowing 25-23.
