Spartans top seeds in NSSAF Division 1 basketball championships

The Dartmouth Spartans are the No.1 seed for both the boys’ and girls’ NSSAF Division 1 basketball championships beginning on Thursday.
The Spartans girls’ team is fresh off an unbeaten metro high school season and a Capital Region victory over the Citadel Phoenix, the tournament’s No. 3 seed. No. 4 C.P. Allen opens play on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Coxheath against No. 5 Auburn Drive. Dartmouth takes on No. 8 Dr. J.H. Gillis at 4 p.m. No. 2 Horton plays host Riverview, the No. 7 seed, at 6 p.m. and Citadel meets No. 6 North Nova at 8 p.m.
In the boys’ championship tournament in Wolfville, No. 4 Citadel plays No. 5 Cobequid at 2 p.m., Dartmouth plays No. 8 Sydney Academy (4 p.m.), No. 2 Halifax Grammar goes against No. 7 Riverview (6 p.m.) and No. 3 Auburn Drive meets No. 6 Horton (8 p.m.).
Division 2
Top-seeded Dr. J.H. Gillis looks to repeat as the champions in the boys’ tournament being hosted by Millwood.
No. 3 Millwood plays No. 6 Forest Heights at 2 p.m. on Thursday, followed by Dr. J.H Gillis against No. 8 Central Kings (4 p.m.), No.2 Breton Education Centre versus No. 7 Bridgetown (6 p.m.) and No., 4 Middleton against No. 5 Amherst (8 p.m.).
At the girls’ championship at Hants East, the hosts enter as the No. 1 seed and play No. 8 NKEC at 4 p.m.
The other games feature No. 2 Amherst against No. 7 Central Kings (2 p.m.), No. 4 West Kings versus No. 5 Millwood (6 p.m.) and No. 3 Breton Education Centre against No. 6 New Germany (8 p.m.)
Division 3
Defending champions Pugwash enter the boys’ tournament at Hants North as the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 Drumlin Heights in the opener at 2 p.m.
No. 2 Shelburne plays No. 7 Guysborough at 4 p.m., No. 3 Cabot goes against No. 6 Tatamagouche (6 p.m.) and No. 1 Hants North plays No. 8 AWEC (8 p.m.).
No. 2 Oxford will be looking to repeat as champions in the girls’ tournament at the Sacred Heart in Halifax.
Thursday’s games feature No. 4 Halifax Grammar versus No. 5 Lockeport (2 p.m.), No. 3 Sacred Heart against No. 6 Pugwash (4 p.m.), Oxford takes on Cape Breton Highlands (6 p.m.) and No. 1 Cabot plays No. 8 Shelburne (8 p.m)
