NWTSAF offer LGBTQi2S Training Opportunities

There are a number of LGBTQi2S training opportunities coming up in the next 4-6 weeks that may be of interest to you, and sport leaders within your TSO’s.

1)      On Monday October 24th from 12-130pm EST Jennifer Birch Jones will be hosting a CAAWS’ Leading the Way: Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches webinar. The focus of this webinar will be on the recent guidance from the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) on trans inclusion in sport. Jen will be joined by Beth Ali, the Athletic Director at University of Toronto who will be sharing the work being done at UofT on trans inclusion in sport. 2)      On Monday, November 7th, 2016 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm EST Guylaine Demers,  professor at Laval University and President of Égale Action, will be delivering the French version of CAAWS Leading the Way webinar. You can register at: Register now!

3)      On Thursday, November 3rd, from 930-1130 as part of the Petro-Can Sport Leadership Conference (SLC)  pre-workshops in Richmond, B.C., Jen will be delivering CAAWS’ Leading the Way; Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches workshop. It will focus on the broader issue LGBT inclusion in sport and provide opportunities for interactive dialogue and peer-to-peer discussions amongst participants. Two guest speakers have been confirmed; Jackie Titley and Matt Allen, two out coaches who will share their experiences as LGBT athletes and now coaches. 4)      On Friday, November 4th, from 14:15 – 15:45 as part of SLC’s concurrent session, You Can Play will be hosting their session: LGBT Athletes and their Straight Allies: You Can Play.
