KENSINGTON – The P.E.I. School Athletic Association senior AAA volleyball medal matches are now set.

Four semifinals played on Wednesday determined those matchups, which will be played at Westisle Composite High School in Elmsdale on Saturday.
The girls’ final will feature the Kensington Torchettes and Colonel Gray Colonels. Both teams finished tied atop the regular-season standings with identical 8-2 (won-lost) records and split their two meetings.

The defending-champion Three Oaks Axemen will take on Colonel Gray to decide the boys’ gold-medal winner.

Girls

At Kensington Intermediate Senior High School, the top-seeded Torchettes and Charlottetown Rural Raiders treated the lively crowd to a five-set thriller.

The Torchettes won the first two sets 25-16, 25-22, before the Raiders answered back to win the next two sets 25-16, 25-19. Kensington regrouped to take the fifth and deciding set 15-11.

At Colonel Gray High School in Charlottetown, the Colonels advanced by sweeping the Axewomen 25-20, 25-17, 25-21.

Boys

At Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside, the Axemen maintained their undefeated season in PEISAA play by posting three solid set wins of 25-11, 25-16, 25-8 over Charlottetown Rural.

At Westisle Composite High School, the Colonels defeated the host Wolverines in four hard-fought sets. Scores were 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21.

At Westisle Composite High School:

11 a.m. – Girls’ bronze: Three Oaks vs. Charlottetown Rural.

1 p.m. – Boys’ bronze: Westisle vs. Charlottetown Rural.

3 p.m. – Girls’ gold: Kensington vs. Colonel Gray.

5 p.m. – Boys’ gold: Three Oaks vs. Colonel Gray.
