Les Intrépides «Cadet D1» de l’école secondaire du Chêne-Bleu, champions provinciaux du RSEQ: Zachary Faucher, Raphaël Langevin, Justin O’Connor, Zakary Lavoie, William Dostie, Ludovic Bertrand, Gabriel Boissonneault (gardien), Justin Little, Justin Scibetta, Alexis Gendron, Samuel Hébert, Tommy Smith, Christophe Rondeau, Benjamin Simoneau, Charles-Émile Proulx, Frédéric Bissonnette, William Morin-Léger et Raphael Piché, accompagnés de l’entraîneur-chef Yannick Guay et de l’entraîneur-adjoint Eric Pilon.

HOCKEY. Les Intrépides de l’école secondaire du Chêne-Bleu ont remporté le championnat provincial de hockey scolaire, dimanche, à Alma au Lac Saint-Jean. L’équipe «Cadet Division 1» a vaincu en finale les porte-couleurs de la polyvalente Nicolas de Gatineau au pointage de 6-3 pour s’approprier le titre tant convoité.

Les hockeyeurs étudiants de Secondaire 2 et 3 n’ont pas subi la défaite à leurs 5 rencontres disputées sur la patinoire du Pavillon Wilbrod-Dufour.  Ils ont battu en succession le Collège Français de Longueuil (5-1), l’Académie Kuper de Kirkland (3-2, en prolongation),  le Séminaire Saint-François de Québec (4-0), et l’école du Coteau à Mascouche (5-4) avant de triompher dans le match ultime.

Les troupiers de l’entraîneur-chef Yannick Guay ont dominé la finale et c’est l’attaquant Alexis Gendron qui a sonné la charge avec un tour du chapeau. William Morin-Léger, Justin O’Connor et William Dostie ont été les autres marqueurs pour les Intrépides qui ont eu l’avantage dans les tirs au but, 39-22.

Le gardien Zachary Faucher était devant le filet des vainqueurs en finale alors que Gabriel Boissonneault a protégé la forteresse des Intrépides en demi-finale et en quart-de-finale, réalisant le jeu blanc (4-0) lors de cette dernière rencontre.

Les représentants du Chêne-Bleu se sont qualifiés pour le championnat provincial en méritant le titre de la section Centre du Réseau du sport étudiant québécois à Vaudreuil-Dorion une dizaine de jours plus tôt. Il s’agit d’une première conquête québécoise en hockey scolaire pour l’établissement d’enseignement situé à Pincourt.

L’équipe compte notamment sur 3 joueurs de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, le gardien Gabriel Boissonneault ainsi que les défenseurs Charles-Émile Proulx et Ludovic Bertrand. On retrouve également 6 hockeyeurs de Soulanges, Alexis Gendron, William Dostie, Samuel Hébert, Zakary Lavoie, Tommy Smith et Raphaël Langevin ainsi que Justin O’Connor, de Huntingdon.

Five teams crowned provincial champions in school hockey!

The RSEQ Division 1 and Division 2 provincial school hockey championships in collaboration with Vital were held from April 25 to 28. The Benjamin, Cadet and Juvenile Division 1 categories were held at the Mario Tremblay Center in Alma. The Cadet Division 2 category was held at the Loretteville Coliseum and the Juvenile Division 2 category was held at the Youth Pavilion in Quebec City. These provincial championships, which brought together the top 8 teams in each category, represented a total of 48 games in Alma and 32 games in Quebec City. At the end of this weekend, 5 teams were named provincial champions in their respective categories.

BENJAMIN D1 – INTRÉPIDE OF THE POLYVALENT SCHOOL NICOLAS-GATINEAU (photo to come)

In the benjamin division 1 category, the Intrepid of École polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau won the honors of the 2018-2019 Provincial Championship. The training led by Stéphane Bertrand defeated the governors of Massey-Vanier High School by the final score of 2 to 1. After a season of 27 victories in 28 games, Intrepid experienced adversity early in the tournament . The Outaouais team, however, managed to win its last three games to win the provincial title. This concludes a successful season for the Nicolas-Gatineau multi-purpose school team, who also won the banners for regular and playoff champions in the center section,

CADET D1 – COUGUARS OF CAP-JEUNESSE HIGH SCHOOL

In the Cadet Division 1 category, the Cougars of Cap-Jeunesse High School won the honors of the 2018-2019 Provincial Championship. The regular-season champion and playoff finalist in the northern section defeated the Massey-Vanier High School Governors 7-2 in the final. The Couguars had a perfect record in the championship with 5 wins in as many games. They defeated in turn the teams of the French college (6 to 4), the high school Pointe-Lévy (5 to 2), the high school Chêne-Bleu (3 to 2) in the quarter-finals and École polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau (5 to 3) in the semifinal before winning the final match.

JUVÉNILE D1 – COUGUARS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL CAP-JEUNESSE

In the Juvenile Division 1 category, it was also the Cougars of Cap-Jeunesse High School who won the honors of the 2018-2019 Provincial Championship. The team led by Patrick Gagnon, the playoff champion of the North section defeated the host team, the Lynx Pavilion Wilbrod-Dufour, by the score of 4 to 2 in the final. The Couguars had a perfect record in the championship with 5 wins in as many games. They defeated in turn the teams of the multi-purpose school Nicolas-Gatineau (6 to 1), the Pavilion Wilbrod-Dufour (4 to 1), the high school of the Odyssée Dominique-Racine (3 to 2 ) in the quarter-finals and the versatile Marcel-Landry (6 to 1) in the semi-final before winning the final match. This is a first provincial title for the Couguars Division 1 Juvenile Team,

CADET D2 – FRÉGATES OF THE SECONDARY SCHOOL SAMUEL-DE-CHAMPLAIN (photo to come)

In the Cadet Division 2 category, the two teams in the overall standings of the regular season competed in the provincial final. The Frigates at Samuel-de-Champlain High School and the Arsenal at Jacques-Leber High School fought a battle. Both teams were undefeated in the regular season and the playoffs, and the two teams faced each other at the start of the tournament, where the Frigates won in overtime by the score of 5 to 4. After a close win of 5 4 in the semi-finals against the Assumption College, the Quebec City team continued its momentum and won the final match by the score of 7 to 2. With a +15 differential during the tournament, 

JUVÉNILE D2 – DRAGONS OF THE SAINT-GEORGES POLYVALENTE

In the Juvenile Division 2 category, the teams competing in the final, the Dragons of the versatile Saint-Georges and the Cougars of the Cap-Jeunesse high school have both had excellent tournaments. In the semi-finals, they beat respectively the Black and Gold of the Mortagne High School and the Blue and Gold of the Arvida Multipurpose School, the two favorite teams of the tournament. After four wins in as many games in the championship, the Saint-Georges team shut out the Cougars of Cap-Jeunesse High School in the final by a score of 4 to 0 to win top honors. This is their second consecutive title in two years of the Juvenile Division 2 league.

We would like to congratulate and sincerely thank our two organizing committees, Wilbrod-Dufour Lodge in Division 1 and Cardinal-Roy High School in Division 2, for their hard work in holding events of this magnitude. Congratulations and thank you all.
