The LeBoldus Golden Suns and Campbell Tartans will renew their traditional rivalry Saturday when they meet in the 5A boys final at Hoopla — the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association basketball championships.

LeBoldus is aiming for its fifth consecutive provincial title, whereas Campbell is looking to avenge a loss to the Golden Suns in the Regina Intercollegiate Basketball League’s senior boys tier 1 final. Campbell was undefeated until LeBoldus posted a 96-72 victory on March 17.

The 5A boys gold-medal game is set for 7 p.m., in the main gym at the University of Regina.

In 5A boys semi-finals at the U of R on Friday, Campbell defeated the Saskatoon St. Joseph Guardians 97-60 and LeBoldus defeated the Saskatoon Bishop James Mahoney Saints 65-53. Tyrese Potoma paced Campbell with 27 points. LeBoldus’s leading scorer was Matt Barnard, with 16.

In Saturday’s 5A girls final (5 p.m., U of R), the Holy Cross Crusaders are to meet the Centennial Chargers in an all-Saskatoon showdown.

Holy Cross defeated the Riffel Royals 65-27 in one semi-final on Friday. Centennial advanced to the final with a 68-63 victory over the Saskatoon Tommy Douglas Tigers.

Holy Cross is appearing in the 5A girls final for the eighth consecutive year. During that span, the Crusaders have won provincial titles in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
