There are plenty of reasons to #DartOutdoors this March 9th – 13th, what’s yours?
Participation Nation is back again for its 5th instalment of the #DartOutdoors campaign, hosted during NLTA’s Education Week. What better way to spend your day than taking your students outside to enjoy the benefits of physical activity in the great outdoors.
Did we mention you could win $500 worth of free equipment for your school?
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any School, Any Class, Grades K-12 can register. Schools do not need to be a SSNL Member School to take part.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Email Natelle (ntulk@schoolsportsnl.ca), with your planned activities, school name and number of students, to register.
WHAT’S THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE?
Register by February 21st to receive draw prizes for your students, OR by our final deadline, March 6th. All schools that register will receive “FUN”ding to cover the cost of hot chocolate supplied during the planned #DartOutdoors activity. Please note, hot chocolate must be packaged or bulk cans only – we will not reimburse pre-made hot chocolate from restaurants.
HOW DO I WIN $500 FOR MY SCHOOL?
When you follow each of the steps below, you will be entered for a chance to win.
- Register your #DartOutdoors event with us
- Share a photo and/or video of your school darting outdoors via your school’s social media (Twitter or Instagram). Be sure to ‘tag’ @SchoolSportsNL and make sure to use #DartOutdoors. Note: If you do not have access to Twitter/Instagram at your school, please email ntulk@schoolsportsnl.ca with your photos.
The live draw will take place Tuesday, March 24th. More details to come on a specific time and which social media platform we’ll be using.
HOW DO I GET “FUN”ding?
After your event is over, email Trish (tboyer@schoolsportsnl.ca), with the amount spent plus your school’s name. We will release the cheque once you submit your school’s participation photos.
NEED SOME INSPIRATION ON WHAT TO DO?
- Snowshoe relay races and hikes
- Cross country skiing adventures
- Outdoor shelter building – quinzee/lean to’s
- Snowman making contests
- Ice/Snow Sculpting
- Skating
- Field snow games – i.e. snow soccer, snow obstacle courses
