START RIGHT NOW PROGRAM LAUNCH A HUGE SUCCESS
On October 26th Premier Paul Davis and the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador along with partners: Canadian Tire, School Sports Newfoundland & Labrador, NLESD, and ParticipACTION rolled out the “Start Right Now” initiave which provides additional funding to programs like SSNL Participation Nation and Active Schools in order to help get NL students active and healthy.
There will be approximately $900,000 administered over 3 years to support increased physical activity programs in our schools, as well as, a significant media campaign presence in efforts to get families to make being active a priority in their lives.
The event took place at Paradise Elementary with Grade 5 students participating in a number of fun and active games organized by the SSNL Participation Nation staff.
