OFSAA extends a sincere thank you to Association Representatives MICHELE VAN BARGEN (WOSSAA) and BRIAN POSTE (COSSA). Both teacher-coaches have decided to retire and OFSAA values their many years of dedication and guidance to school athletics in the province. We’ll also miss Michele’s contributions and experience on Executive Council. 

HAPPY RETIREMENT!After 16 years in the executive director chair at OFSAA, DOUG GELLATLY will retire on July 1st. Doug has championed efforts for participation and the level playing field for schools, students and teachers during two tenures with us. Here’s to great health and happiness for Doug and his family in this next chapter! Thank you!
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR!SHAMUS BOURDON was appointed the eighth executive director in the long history of OFSAA on May 19th. The Elliott Lake, ON native has been with the organization since 2014 and replaces DOUG GELLATLY. He brings over 25 years of experience in education and sport management to the role. Congratulations, Shamus!

2022 CHARACTER ATHLETE AWARD WINNERS

OFSAA is proud to celebrate the efforts of the student-athletes who excelled on the playing field and in the classroom, in both community and school. Congratulations to BROOKE AILEY (Superior CVI), ALEXANDRA ELMSLIE (John F Ross CVI), MIKAIO WALIA (Lasalle SS) and ZACHARY SIKKA (St. Paul CHS). Recipients receive a $500 grant from Jostens. Please learn more about the accomplishments of our worthy selections HERE.

2022 ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS 

Congratulations to the three deserving recipients of the OFSAA Alumni Scholarship!

TRACE CARTER of Eastdale C & VI, LOSSA
KANIKA TIBRIWAL of St. Francis Xavier SS, ROPSSAA
Each will receive $800 towards post-secondary education.

JOHN McGREGOR SECONDARY SCHOOL (Chatham, ON)OFSAA was pleased to recognize association and local district winter sport champions – in addition to randomly-selected student athletes – in 2022. Athletes (as pictured here) from around Ontario received a special tee and shoe bag designed by Canuckstuff.


WOODSTOCK COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE (Woodstock, ON)

Longtime OFSAA staff member, BRIAN RIDDELL, decided to make 2021-22 his final year with us. Brian greatly influenced a countless number of students and coaches while playing an integral role, over many years, with OFSAA Boys’ Golf, Curling, Wrestling and Baseball Championships.

VIRTUAL CHALLENGES, presented byThe Scoreboard Man, returned in May! Physical Education classes were challenged with a new daily outdoor activity from May 16-20. Our winners are: KAPUSKASING DHSDUNNVILLE SS and JOHN McGREGOR SS! Congratulations! Learn more at ofsaa.on.ca.
