Congratulations to our New Brunswick School Sports Athletes of the Month for March, Isabelle and Thomas.

Isabelle Sauvé has shown herself as a key role in the recent successes of the senior women’s volleyball team. Among other things, she shone at the Mathieu-Martin tournament, where she was named player of the tournament. Known for her consistency, work ethic, and ability to perform under pressure, she is an important leader on the field. In addition to her athletic performances, Isabelle maintains excellent academic results. Member of the SSNB double-champion team at the AAA level, she aims to defend that title with determination this season.

Thomas is a two-sport athlete who dedicates a lot of time to training for success. His progress in both disciplines is not only in his athletic abilities, but also in the many hours spent in the gym to gain muscle mass and strength. He deserves his place in the power play and outnumbered numbers, and thanks to his dynamism on the ice, he’s become indispensable to his team. Although he doesn’t wear a letter on his jersey, he led by example and showed up when needed. His highlight of the season was scoring the equalizer goal in the first game of the region series. Thomas is a role model to his peers and living proof that dedication and hard work pays off. He was an important member of the baseball and hockey teams, as well as a mentor in unified sports.

Congratulations to both athletes and thank you coaches and staff for taking the time to recognize these amazing students.

Harlow Hannams Charlottetown Rural AAA Women’s Basketball

Harlow had excellent performances in both semifinal and gold medal games. She was the leading scorer for the team for both games and put the team on her back offensively. In the semifinal, Harlow had 23 points in the first half and finished with a season-high (potentially career-high) 30 points. She continued this effort in the final where she scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, making her the easy choice for player of the game in her final game as a Raider. She is a 3-time Provincial champion, clinching gold, and winning Player of the game at this year’s Provincial championships.

Angus MacDonald East Wiltshire

Angus MacDonald of East Wiltshire truly embodies the ‘first in, last out’ mentality that defines our program’s culture. While many focus on the highlights, I have been most impressed by his relentless work ethic behind the scenes—the extra shooting reps before and after practice, the intensity in every defensive drill, and the refusal to take a single play off. What sets him apart, however, is his incredible resilience; whether facing a tough opponent or a personal performance slump, he never hangs his head but instead use that adversity as fuel to get better. His commitment to the grind and his unwavering ‘never-satisfied’ attitude serves as a blueprint for his teammates, proving that greatness isn’t given, it is earned every single day on this hardwood.”
