Our winter championships and festivals from February and March are in the books!

Check out all of the individuals who successfully worked their way to the podium and the teams who pulled together on the big stage to capture medals!

And we can’t forget the high-achieving athletes from snowboarding, alpine skiing and nordic skiing. We also give props to the four worthy recipients of the 2025-26 Character Athlete Award and the new calendar of events for 2026-27 can also be found in the pages.

2026-27 CHAMPIONSHIP DATE CHANGES
Please visit the official OFSAA 3-Year Calendar HERE to view multiple 2026-27 Championship date changes made over the past several weeks.
The changes reflect alpine skiing, nordic skiing, tennis, ultimate, wrestling, cross country and the addition of A/AA football bowls.

OFSAA extends a sincere thank you to outgoing OFSAA Board Members VAL HARGREAVES (Central Region), STACEY DITCHFIELD (West Region) and JASON LAUZON (North Region). 

We thank them for their many years of passion, leadership and direction on our Board!

At this time, we are excited to welcome new OFSAA Board members NIKKI CAMBRIDGE (North Region) and TIM CLAYTON (West Region).

2025-26 OFSAA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTSThis year, the Alumni Association is very pleased to name four students from Ontario high schools as recipients of the Alumni Scholarship.
Each of our four winners will receive $1,000. 
Congratulations to Eve Beaudry (ÉSC Algonquin), Charley Pollock (Englehart H.S.), Nicholas Ludgate (St. Peter’s C.S.S.) and Kevin Pezzack (Bluevale C.I.).

 OFSAA STUDENT COMMITTEE OFF & RUNNING!

We held our introductory Student Committee meeting with 36 student committee members at the end of May. We’ll continue to look forward to more of their insights in guiding the future direction of student engagement in 2026-27.

We are pleased to announce that EVVIE LAKE and BENJAMIN KIM will serve in the role of OFSAA Student Committee co-chairs. Evvie attends Lake Superior HS (NWOSSAA) in Terrace Bay and Benjamin attends St. Theresa of Lisieux CHS (YRAA) in Richmond Hill.

2025-26 CHARACTER ATHLETE AWARD RECIPIENTS
OFSAA is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2026 Character Athlete Award. These individuals excelled in the community, the classroom and on the playing field. 
Congratulations to Kelly Huang (Winston Churchill C.I.), Samantha Zhao (Markville S.S.), Neill Dawson (Gloucester H.S.) and Sean Dunn (South Carleton H.S.).
Baron provides each recipient with a $500 grant and a customized ring.

OFSAA ANNUAL MEETING NEWSThe OFSAA Annual Meeting affords us the opportunity to collectively address future direction issues for all regions of Ontario. Please review the PDF here for more detailed information coming out of the Meeting which was held earlier this month.

APPLY NOW FOR MAXWELL SCHOLARSHIP!
Applications will be accepted for The Brian Maxwell Memorial Scholarship from May 1 until June 8.
Eight student-athletes who meet the criteria, and will be continuing their post-secondary education at a Canadian college or university, are recognized each year. Learn more and apply HERE.


A Very Special OFSAA Regional Event!

On April 23rd, a 3×3 basketball tournament – Hoops For Hope – was held at Walkerton District Community School to raise money for breast cancer research. The event honoured a legacy and continued the vision of Olivia Rourke. A total of 20 boys’ teams and 16 girls’ teams participated. Congratulations to the organizers and all of the competitors!

The Olivia Rourke Foundation will continue to focus on empowering youth-led community initiatives, advancing women in sport, and funding cancer-related charities and research.

SIXTH ANNUAL OFSAA STUDENT FORUMSportsnet’s Shi Davidi headlined this year’s virtual Student Forum. Thank you to all of the speakers for providing compelling stories regarding cyber safety, resilience and developing money skills to 44 classrooms and 1,100 plus students over the course of 3 days (March 31 to April 2).

In addition to Shi, thank you to guest speakers Natalie Wideman, Andrew Thompson, Apollo Hess, Angelique de Montbrun, Taryn Snow, Ansar Siddiqui, Alex Volstad and Michael Leonard. 


The New OFSAA Student CommitteeThe selected candidates for the committee have been contacted and the group will serve as the collective voice of our high school student-athletes. The committee will promote initiatives that enable student-athletes to feel heard and supported by OFSAA, ensuring their perspectives contribute to the organization’s direction. The pilot phase will test the feasibility of a provincial student committee and offer actionable insights to guide the future direction of student engagement. We can’t wait to get started!
