SHASS COACHING SYMPOSIUM

The SHSAA is proud to offer the 2016 Coaches Symposium!   The Symposium is an excellent opportunity for coaches from different sporting backgrounds to gather in one location to participate in a professional development opportunity.

Are you struggling with PD Funding???  Because the Coaches Symposium occurs prior to the start of the school year, there are no sub costs to increase your PD expenses.  Additionally, the fourteen SHSAA districts are offering incentives to financially support coaches who attend.

The Coaches Symposium will be held Tuesday, August 23rd and Wednesday August 24th, 2016 at Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon.

• The Coaches Symposium features Guest Speaker, Ralph Schoenfeld, a high school and university coach that has a background in sport psychology.
• The Symposium Committee is bringing in quality presenters for the following sports: football, golf, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, badminton, and track and field.
• The Symposium is enhanced by the opportunity to attend pre-conference sessions in:
  • NCCP Training
    • Volleyball Development Coach Program (Level 1)
    • Basketball Introduction to Competition- Modified Games Approach (Level 1)
    • CAAWS Conflict Resolution (females only)
    • Resistance Training PD Module
  • Football Heads-Up Tackling
• The program is rounded out with opportunities in non-specific sport areas such as: sport enhancing products education and awareness, technology in sport, communication with parents, concussions, and sport nutrition.
