Citadel, Dalbrae win School Sport Nova Scotia girls’ hockey titles
Kathleen Allen-Rawding scored the winning goal as the Citadel Phoenix edged the Halifax West Warriors 4-3 to capture the School Sport Nova Scotia Division 1 girls hockey championship on Sunday at West Colchester United Arena.
The Warriors jumped out to a 3-1 lead on goals by Grace Henderson, Jasim Cian Alcido and Gabby Smith.
Marina Vanwart had Citadel’s first goal while Anna Bezanson and Ava Lorette sparked the Phoenix rally.
The Phoenix advanced to the championship game with a thrilling 1-0 overtime win over the C.P. Allen Cheetahs on a goal by Lorette. Kaia LaMorre had the shutout.
The Warriors advanced to the championship game with a 4-0 win over Cobequid. Alcido scored twice while Julia McInnis and Henderson had singles and Anna Wen Sampson had the shutout.
Division 2
The Dalbrae Dragons captured the Division 2 championship with a 2-1 win over Strait Area Education Recreation Centre Saints at the Middleton Arena.
Floragael MacNeil scored both goals for the Dragons, a breakaway goal in the first period and a shorthanded marker in the second period.
Sidnee Wood had the lone goal for the Saints, which came with 55 seconds to play in regulation time.
Dalbrae went undefeated in the tournament with four wins.
HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY PROVINCIALS: Dalbrae Academy defeats SAERC in all-Cape Breton Division 2 girls’ championship final in Middleton
MIDDLETON, N.S. – The Dalbrae Dragons will bring another provincial title back to Mabou.
Dalbrae captured the School Sport Nova Scotia Division 2 girls’ hockey provincial championship title on Sunday, defeating Cape Breton rival Strait Area Education Recreation Centre Saints 2-1 in the championship game at the Middleton Arena.
Floragael MacNeil scored both goals for the Dragons, scoring once on a breakaway in the first period and shorthanded in the second period.
Sidnee Wood had the lone goal for the Saints, which came with 55 seconds to play in regulation time with the Port Hawkesbury school’s net empty.
Dalbrae went undefeated in the tournament with four wins. SAERC earned their spot in the final with a 5-4 win over West Kings in the semifinal game on Saturday.

MIDDLETON, N.S. – Cape Breton hockey teams had mixed results at the School Sport Nova Scotia Division 2 girls’ provincial championship in Middleton on Friday.
The Dalbrae Dragons opened the tournament with a 6-0 win over the Strait Area Education Recreation Centre Saints before beating the host Middleton 8-1 at the Middleton Arena.
Meanwhile, later in the day, the Saints also dropped a 4-2 decision to the West Kings Wolverines to drop their record to 0-2-0-0 at the tournament.
The only other score, not involving a Cape Breton team, saw Middleton earn a 4-3 overtime victory over West Kings to begin the tournament Friday afternoon.
The tournament will resume on Saturday with SAERC playing Middleton at 12 p.m. and Dalbrae facing West Kings at 2 p.m.
The championship game will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m.
